Healthcare unit for women & kids
Appasamy Hospital inaugurated their health care wing - The Centre for Women and Child Health (WCH) - exclusively for women and children, ensuring the availability of hi-tech medical facility for the general public. The public can seek good quality and affordable healthcare through this initiative, its spokesman said.
This unit of the Appasamy Hospital will provide 24-hour maternity care and paediatric care and treatment for emergencies related to conception and child birth, thereby reducing complications and risks in the case of the newborn and the vulnerable mothers.
The project is the brainchild of Dr Sumathy and Dr Rengasamy as they have always noticed a requirement for an extra facility with the number of patients visiting the hospital on the rise. Along with them, Dr Madumathy and Dr Vijayakumar, head, Paediatrics, will lend their expertise to the unit.
"The healthcare unit will provide an integrated, single price treatment under the same roof. The unit will also provide holistic care in terms of mental and physical health, family counselling when there is a necessity," says Dr. Rengasamy, director, Appasamy Hospital.
Appasamy Hospital regularly conducts camps for health screening. One such activity was conducted recently to mark the beginning of the new facility. The camp was a great success with more than 250 patients visiting it. About 103 patients consulted the paediatric doctors and gynecologists treated around 140 patients.
Free vaccination (for children) and medicines were provided. Patients could use the USB scan services at a special discounted rate.
Appasamy Hospital has introduced a Child Health Card to provide special services to patients. The card is valid for one year and is available at a cost of Rs 750, which includes 15 free consultations and an in-patient facility for its holders.
