Union Health Minister Anbumani Ramadoss will chair the function while Tamil Nadu Health Minister K K S S R Ramachandran will release the silver jubilee souvenir.
The MMM is hosting an International Healthcare Leadership Summit on January 12 and 13, 2007, in collaboration with the International Health Federation. This summit has been organised to commemorate the silver jubilee of MMM, its vice-president Verghese Eapen said in Chennai on January 10.
The summit will discuss the not-for-profit business models being used and the need for not-for-profit healthcare organisations in India and the world, he said.
The technical sessions of the summit are divided into focus sessions on Leadership and Governance, Resource Mobilisation and Partnership, Faith-based Organisations, Innovation and Technology and Case Studies on Successful Care Models, Verghese Eapen said.
Besides Dr Kenneth Kaunda, the first President of the Republic of Zambia and the founder of the Kenneth Peace Foundation, the function will have the participation of many eminent personalities from over 25 countries.
Among them are Prof Per-Gunar Svensson, secretary general, International Hospital Federation, France, Prof Aidan Haligan, the chairman of Elison Health, UK, Karen H Timmons, president and CEO of Joint Commission Resources Inc., and Director of WHO-World Alliance for Patient Safety, Paul Van Ostenberg, managing director of Asia Pacific Region of Joint Commission International, France.
An MMA Healthcare Excellence Award 2007 has been instituted by the MMM to recognise hospitals in the not-for-profit sector in the Asian region. The name of the winner will be announced on January 12. The winner will receive a citation and a cash prize of Rs 5 lakh.
