Those
who attended the seminar conducted by Aspire SuperKidz in T
Nagar on December 15 could hardly believe what K Swaminathan,
CEO, Aspire SuperKidz said. He said every child is born a genius
and a 3-month-old baby has great ability to learn. If they are
properly nurtured, they could become another Abdul Kalam, Bill
Gates and Sachin Tendulkar.
It was a seminar on powers of the right side
brain and early childhood learning. Kindergarten teachers,
organisers of playschools and crèches and parents had an
informative lecture by Swaminathan. The seminar focused on the
important findings of scientific researches. Unlike a lecture,
the seminar was more interactive.
Swaminathan explained the functioning of the
brain, which is made up of millions of cells called neurons. He
further said intelligence and success of a person is determined
by the number of neuro connections happening in the brain. The
more the neurons get interconnected with one another, the more
intelligent, analytical and creative and communicative one
becomes, he said.
He also enlightened on the two hemispheres of
the brain - left hemisphere and right hemisphere. He stated that
while the left hemisphere concentrates more on studies like
logic, words, analysis and sequence, the other hemisphere is all
about emotions, creativity and imagination.
The measure of the left brain capabilities is
called Intelligence Quotient (IQ) and that of the right brain,
Emotional Quotient (EQ). It is very essential to nurture both IQ
and EQ. According to research findings, the best age for
development by activating and stimulating the brain is the first
few months after birth, then the first four years and in an
extended manner the first 14 years because during this period
the brain has an infinite capacity to absorb things, he said.
He said babies could easily understand
through their photographic memory and super computing abilities
and if both these are nurtured at a very young age, they can
become
super learners and mathematicians,
respectively.
Hence, in order to make every child a genius,
Aspire SuperKidz has introduced an exclusive programme for
mothers of children between 0 and 4 years. Swaminathan said
under this programme, mothers are taught the various methods
that could be adopted to make their child an intellectual.
“Interested mothers can attend direct
classes, which lasts for 6 months at a cost of Rs 12,000 or they
can get the materials and practise them on their own, which
costs Rs 8,500. We even promote women entrepreneurs,” said
Swaminathan.
