The
first national conference on Obstetric Anaesthesia, being
organised by the Association of Obstetric Anaesthesiologists (AOA),
will be held at Hotel Savera, Chennai, on September 6&7, 2008.
According to a note from the organising secretary, Dr L
Parthasarathy, the AOA was initiated at the ISA Conference at
Kolkata in 2005. "It aims to promote the highest standards of
anaesthetic practice for the care of the mother and baby with
like-minded, enthusiastic and dedicated group of anaesthetists,
interested in the growth and development of this speciality."
In March 2007, AOA organised the first national update on
obstetric anaesthesia at Udaipur with a well-attended meet.
The Chennai meet, says Dr Parthasarathy, will
take the anaesthesiologists through the latest facts, theories
and controversies relating to obstetric anaesthesia and
analgesia with highest standard pre-conference workshops.
Registration has been made mandatory for all
delegates.
