Chennai Pollen Watch - Feronia elephantum
The data represents the result of continuous pollen monitoring conducted between May 4 & May 10. The monitoring is done by exposing adhesive coated glass cylinder in the vertical cylinder trap for a period of 24 hours, installed at a height of 15 metres in 5 different zones (Anna Nagar, Gandhi Mandapam, Royapettah, Villivakkam and Washermanpet) in the city of Chennai. The results are presented as mean of all five sites. Though the atmosphere of Chennai consists of a large number of pollen types only a few are represented in the data according to their dominance. The report shows the predominance of Feronia elephantum, Cocos nucifera, Eucalyptus territiconis, Lannea coromandelica, Azadirachta indica, Prosopis juliflora, Borassus flabellifer and Parthenium hysterophorus in that order.
