Chennai pollen watch and the results
The above data represents the result of continuous pollen monitoring conducted between March 30 and April 5. The monitoring is done by exposing adhesive coated glass cylinder in the vertical cylinder trap for a period of 24 hours, installed at a height of 15 metres in 5 different zones (Anna Nagar, Gandhi Mandapam, Royapettah, Villivakkam and Washermanpet) in the city of Chennai. The results are presented as mean of all five sites. Though the atmosphere of Chennai consists of a large number of pollen types only a few are represented in the data according to their dominance. The report shows the predominance of the pollen of Azadirachta indica, Prosopis juliflora, Parthenium hysterophorus, Cocos Nucifera and Feronia elephantum in that order.
