Add half-a-lemon to a quarter tumbler of milk and gulp it immediately. This will stop loose motion at once. Or take tea decoction with lemon. Fry omam (available at all provision stores) and curry leaves and wait for the omam to burst. Pour buttermilk and salt to it and mix it with rice. This is a very good treatment for loose motion. Take a handful of small onions (sambar vengayam) and boil it in water. Add salt and ghee to the boiling water. Once the water evaporates, remove it and mix it to rice and eat it. This makes for a good laxative and small onions are supposed to cool your system. If you are suffering from constipation, eat radish with salt, pepper and lemon after lunch/dinner. Other remedies: Given our lifestyles, BP, or blood pressure, is becoming a common affliction even among youngsters. Here is a home remedy to fight BP: Smash two cloves of garlic and soak them in water overnight. Drink the water on an empty stomach. If you can lay your hands on mango stone (what is inside the seed), mix it with dosa batter and make it into dosa. This helps fight piles. The best treatment for jaundice is keezhvanelli (available in most houses or can be bought from the vegetable vendor). Grind it well and eat it on empty stomach. This paste cured Mrs Rathi Ramananda's daughter of even her worms! To cure bile (pitham), soak jeera for half-an-hour. Grind it with ginger and strain. Add jaggery and then half-a-lemon. Eat this on empty stomach and you will find the bitterness disappear from your mouth. If somebody is choking on food at the table, make a ball of cooked rice and ghee and make them swallow it. The rice will push whatever is obstructing the foodpipe and give instant relief. If you have dirty toenails, heat coconut oil and apply it hot on the toenails. Use a piece of cotton to squeeze out the dirt. To treat urinary infection, take red rock sugar (sigappu kalkandu) mixed in water and lemon juice thrice a day.
