'EISA' urges Govt to network State hospitals

The e-Information Systems, Security and Audit Association, Southern Regional Council (eISA)) has urged the Government to network all the 11,000 hospitals in the state to provide better health care service to the common man, as part of 'e-governance'.

The Southern India Regional Council (SIRC) of eISA was inaugurated recently in Chennai by Justice Sri Subhashan Reddy, Chief Justice of the Madras High Court. eISA also held a conference on e-governance, e-security and Information Assurance. Experts from the private and public sectors participated and presented papers.

R. Ramamurthy, eISA Vice-Chairman, said that eISA had passed a resolution at the end of the seminar urging the Government to network 11,000 hospitals in the rural and semi urban centres of Tamil Nadu, initially with the district headquarters and later with the State capital. This would help doctors diagnose the rural patients in consultation with experts at urban centres, caution the rural people about the symptoms of any outbreak and move the concerned medicine quickly. This would also help develop 'health data', disease-wise and area-wise. This scheme of networking all the hospitals would cost nearly 60 crore.

The World Bank is also willing to fund such projects, he added.

The conference also urged the Government to impart training to all their Police and Judicial officials on cyber crimes, investigation, cyber-evidence and on cyber terrorism. eISA would provide the necessary assistance, if required, for such training, Ramamurthy added.
