Apollo Hospitals' sweet gesture

With the swelling numbers of diabetics in India causing a major worry for government and health care professionals, Apollo Hospitals has come out with a pack consisting of a series of tests for diabetics.

Priced at Rs 650, 'Apollo Diapack', launched on the occasion of World Diabetes Day, would be available till November 21 at all Apollo centres in Chennai.

'Apollo Diapack' enables patients to get the following tests for diabetes: fasting blood sugar, blood sugar-post prandial, blood urea, serum creatinine, cholesterol, glycosylated haemoglobin, urine routine, diabetic consultation.

Patients can also walk in for free counselling sessions from 3-4 p.m. at the Apollo Diabetes Clinic at Apollo Sindoori complex during this period. 

Preetha Reddy, managing director, Apollo Hospitals, has said, "Apollo Diapack and the various other initiatives from Apollo Hospitals have been designed to enable people to check on their sugar levels. We are offering specialised check-up and care at our diabetes clinic to encourage people to keep a check on the disease before it goes out of control. We are also organising a series of educative material to be handed out to people and patients as education and awareness about a disease is the first step towards controlling it."

There is also an exhibition on the latest advances in diabetes care, especially home care, at the the hospital's diabetes clinic.

As a special gesture to diabetics, Mom's Confectionery at Apollo Sindoori Complex would be selling diabetic-friendly sweets and cakes.
