 In an effort to spread the innovative techniques to the entire medical fraternity, Apollo Hospitals has released a medical compact disc with all laparoscopic procedures conducted at the hospitals in the last five years.
The CD provides details of all innovative procedures in laparoscopy involving the latest technology. These include operative procedures on all the abdominal organs, gall bladder, liver, appendix and intestine. The CD also informs about the ovarian cyst raptur, ectopic pregnancy rupture and infertility assessment that can be handled with
laparoscopy.
Minister for Public Works, Prohibition, Excise and Revenue, 0 Paneerselvam, Minister for Health Thalavai Sundaram, the director of Medical Education and deans from government medical colleges were present on the occasion.
Features of the Medical CD
Details all laparoscopic procedures that have been conducted at Apollo Hospitals;
Gives information on all innovative procedures in laparoscopy involving the latest technology such as the harmonic scalpel - a technology where there is no blood loss during the surgical procedure;
First-time laparoscopic procedures are compiled on a CD; and
The CD will be given to all government medical institutions.
Commenting on the release of the CD, Apollo Hospitals managing director Preetha Reddy, said, "The core purpose of the CD is to inform and educate the members of the medical fraternity, including the education segment, about the innovative techniques at Apollo Hospitals for conducting various laparoscopic procedures. Today, technology has enabled us to conduct various types of surgeries with fewer complications. It is necessary for the medical community to share such details in order to make the world a healthier place to live in."
