Apollo Launches Health & Diet Clinic
The Apollo preventive health check programme wherein over 4 lakhs health screenings have been performed has established that improper diet and lack of exercise are the cause for major ailments including cardiac disorders. The Apollo Health & Diet Clinic, which was launched in Chennai on June 10, 2003, is a comprehensive approach to weight reduction, promoting fitness through proper diet planning and exercise regimen. The programme has been designed on the lines of some of the best health programmes the world over. This three-month programme follows a scientifically planned step-by-step approach to combat obesity through balanced diet and exercise. The five-step appraoch includes Step 1: The programme starts with a basic health check up to assess the client's current state of health and affirm whether he/she fulfills the specified criteria to be a part of this programme. Step 2: As part of creating a customized health plan, each client will undergo a nutritional counselling session at Apollo. Step 3: A weight loss diet plan will follow the nutrition counselling session. Formulated by the nutrition expert. This step caters to personal diet programmes for each member. Step 4: The penultimate step in this process will be the formulation of a personalized fitness regime designed by the fitness expert. Step 5: Besides exercising and eating healthy food one must also believe that they will succeed in the venture that they have embarked upon. Motivation therefore is a key factor to be considered. A group motivation session will also be an integral part of the programme.
The highlight of this programme is that it does not limit itself to suggesting a suitable diet, but also the food that will be delivered at the client's doorstep. The health food prepared by the expert chef at the Sindoori Hotel would consist of three balanced meals and two portions of snacks. Physical fitness expert Mr. Ramji Srinivasan will work on a customized exercise routine for every member of the programme. A widely acclaimed and acknowledged physical fitness consultant and a consultant with the MRF Pace Foundation, he specializes in strength, cardiovascular and Swiss ball training. The option of training at a club or a gym of one's choice is also open. The personal trainer assigned to each member at the beginning of the programme will guide the member, and a review of the effectiveness of the exercise regime will be conducted every fortnight. The unique feature of this programme to address obesity is the diets prepared on the advice of the nutrition expert that work along with your body's natural metabolism and the fitness regimen resulting in an average weight reduction of 2.2 pounds per week which is within the safe weight loss parameters that is medically recommended.
