AFPPA takes lead in healthy food and hygiene
Recently the controversy regarding purity of mineral water has further fuelled the concern about hygiene in the masses. Also, the Delhi Government’s proposed initiative of banning the junk food at school canteens is another step, which has highlighted the need for healthy & hygienic food. The factor that plays the important part in maintaining the hygiene & healthy benefit of milk is its processing and packaging. Consumers are not aware of the benefits of the technology, which delivers safe, natural and hygienic food. This was the background under which The Aseptic Food Processing & Packaging Industry Association of India (AFPPA) was born in the year 2002 so that in the processing of the fruits and milk and other similar products most hygienic, safe and international standard of packaging could be adopted which aseptic packaging ensured. As Government opinion is one of the most influencing factor for the industry behavior and practice, AFPPA keeps this as one of the most crucial objective of its functioning. Aseptic packaging is the surest way of maintaining the healthy deliverability of milk: Milk is the most important intake for a child’s balanced diet. The aseptically packaged milk is usually referred to as U.H.T Milk. It has been specially processed and packaged so that it can by transported and stored without refrigeration. U.H.T. stands for Ultra High Temperature.

Ltd., (Amul), Mother Dairy, Punjab State - Verka Milk, Jaipur Dairy, Tropicana Beverages, Pepsi Cola India, Hindustan Coca Cola Limited (Coke), Godrej, HLL, Dabur Foods are using the benefits of Aseptic packaging. Aseptic Packaging is a process in which packaging material is sterilized using chemical or thermal energy; maintained in a sterile region; filed with product and hermetically sealed. This process of packaging makes sure that micro-organisms are prevented from entering into the package during and after packaging.
