Medical camp for cops, families
Dr J S Rajkumar, chairman,
Rigid Hospitals, conducted a medical camp for police personnel and their families on April 10 at the Rajarathinam Stadium in
Egmore,
Chennai.
During the camp, the third dose of Hepatitis-B vaccine was administered to more than 500 personnel of the Police Department, including their family members.
Dr Rajkumar has carried out the third camp for police personnel in the last six months. The first one was held in September 2003 with free medical check-up for police personnel, screening them for diabetes, thyroid and other allied problems.
More than 1,000 persons were screened in the first camp and the first dose of Hepatitis-B was administered then. During the camp, 100 cases were detected with Hepatitis-B virus. They were recommended appropriate treatment.
Rigid Hospitals has been in the forefront in conducting medical camps for police personnel. It is their way of saying 'thank you' to the police personnel who work for long hours, with odd timings, in order to maintain law and order and prevent crimes, said a spokesman of the hospital.
