Music Therapy
CDs
Two medical music
therapy cassettes and CDs, produced by Super Audio (Geethanjali
brand) were also launched to mark the swift progress of the music
therapy department at Apollo Hospitals. The medical music therapy
cassettes and CDs are the first-of-their kind to be available for
expecting mothers and babies and for sleep and relaxation. The two
CDs have been produced by the Music Therapy department after
extensive research on the subject.
Dr. T. Mythily,
Medical Music Therapy, Director and Course Co-ordinator, said,
"Scientific studies reveal that music is useful in relieving
confused minds and distressed personalities. Some studies show that
music can lower blood
pressure, basal -metabolism and respiration
rates, thus lessening physiological responses to stress. Knowledge
of the attributes of music will enable doctors provide a holistic
treatment schedule to patients."
The audio cassette
and CD on medical music therapy for expecting mothers and babies
comprises of specially selected ragas and classical music that are
proven to be beneficial to the foetus as well as the mother. The
selected ragas given in this album are something very special with
regard to its notes/ swaras, said Apollo managing director Preetha
Reddy.
For the so-called
normal and for the disturbed individuals, classical music has
wonderful effect on their sleep patterns. Specific ragas with
selected notes and vibration gives relief from stress and makes the
individual relax and go to sleep, Dr Mythily said. She thanked Super
Audio managing director Navin for getting ready the CDs and
