Apollo Hospitals net profit up
Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Limited, Asia’s largest healthcare service provider announced an increase in the Q1 Net Profit by 35% as compared to the first quarter of the previous financial year. The company reported a net profit of Rs.10.5 crore for the quarter ended June 30 as against a net profit of Rs. 7.8 crore for the same period last year. The company recorded revenues of Rs. 134.8 crore for quarter ended June 30 up 18% compared to the same period last year. The above financial results were taken on record at the Board Meeting held in Chennai on July 30, 2004.
Highlights for quarter ending June 2004: Ventriculo Peritoneal Shunt or brain surgery performed successfully on one of the smallest babies (1250 grams pre-term - low birth weight baby) in India at the Apollo Specialty Hospitals, Madurai. Inauguration of Apollo Telemedicine centre at Tirunelveli and Koilpatti near Madurai The microbiology department of Apollo Hospitals International Limited (formerly known as Akshaya Apollo Hospitals, Ahmedabad) has been declared a designated Microscopy centre (DMC) for 3 sputum smear studies in PNTCP program under 3-A of Government of India as a paid DMC The Telemedicine initiative of Apollo Hospitals has treated over 10,000 patients since its inception. Patients have availed consultancy from doctors in various specialties like oncology, cardiology, neurology, orthopedics, to name a few. Over 75 international patients have availed the service. Apollo Hospitals, Chennai inaugurated the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). Dr Ramaswami Venkataswami of Apollo Hospitals was awarded the title ‘Pioneer in Hand Surgery’ by the International Federation of Societies for Surgery of the Hand. RR
