SRMC convocation
The Sri Ramachandra
Medical College and Research Institute (SRMC & RI), a Deemed
University (DU),
conducted the 10th convocation of the hospital ward technician
course at
the SRMC University
building recently.
Film producer
Aabavanan was the chief guest at the function. While distributing
the certificates to the students, Aabavanan praised the laudable
efforts of the SRMC in every field of medical activity.
Prof S
Thanikachalam, Vice-Chancellor of SRMC & RI
(DU), said the
one-year hospital ward technician course was introduced only in
SRMC for students with plus-two qualification free of fees but with
stipend of Rs 300. While elaborating on the necessity of the course
in big corporate hospitals like SRMC, he broadly outlined the
objectives of the course which would develop an understanding of the
concept of comprehensive nursing; basic nursing techniques,
developing effective communication and establishing good inter-
personal relationship.
“The course also
motivates the technicians to speak English fluently,” said
Thanikachalam. Students of this course are being offered placement
in government hospitals and also abroad.
SRMC
was established under Sri Ramachandra Educational and Health Trust, a
private, not-for-profit, self-financing institution, in 1985,
dedicated to serve society as a centre for excellence with
emphasis on medical education, research and healthcare. In view of
its excellence, the Government of India granted the status of Deemed
University to SRMC under the provisions of
the UGC Act, 1956.
