Art of Living musical evening
Vyakti Vikas Kendra, Tamil Nadu, is organising a grand musical evening at The Music Academy, Chennai, on June 25 at 6.30 p.m. Arun Madhavan, chairman, Vyakti Vikas Kendra, India, (popularly known as Art of Living or AOL) will be chairing the
Satsangh.
(The Art of Living is an NGO and charitable trust that is dedicated to serving society. On the occasion of the silver jubilee celebration of
the AOL and the golden jubilee celebration of guru Sri Sri Ravi Shankar in 2006, meditation halls/temples of knowledge are to be constructed all over the country.)
Popular Carnatic vocalists P Unnikrishan and O S Arun and santoor artiste Pandit R.Vishweswaran will be performing at the show, besides ‘Avataran’ fame Sahil Jagtiani. “This is a fund-raiser programme and the proceeds will be utilised to construct the silver jubilee meditation hall in Chennai,” say the
organisers.
The ‘Temples of Knowledge’ are being constructed at various centres all over Tamil Nadu to mark the silver jubilee of the Art of Living in 2006. At the Tiruvanmiyur Kendra, which functions at Atma Gnana Nilayam Campus, Kalakshetra Road, the existing meditation hall will be expanded and renovated.
Their ex-president G Kittu Rao, who passed away recently, had donated the area of around 7,000 sq ft. Besides the meditation hall, the centre will have an Ayurveda clinic. Regular bhajans (Satsanghs) and courses will be conducted here.
The headquarters office of Tamil Nadu, which had been functioning from the same venue and temporarily shifted to Alwarpet for renovation purposes, would once again be shifted to this venue, said the
organisers.
“The fund-raiser programme is for the creation of these Temples of Knowledge and apart from this, we are going to adopt nearly 1 lakh villages (from the present 21,000) spanning over 21 states to carry out more and more service projects,” say the
organisers.
Vyakti Vikas Kendra in Tamil Nadu has adopted many villages around Nagapattinam, Chidambaram and Sreenivasapuram in Chennai after the disastrous tsunami late last year. They have been involved in rehabilitating people, especially women, through their various projects in these places.
