It
might sound strange but the Danvantri Arogya Peedam will be observing
Sani Peyarchi at the temple in Walajapet on AUgust 8 from 12 Noon to 3
p.m.
This is because there is a tree (vriksham) that
is dedicated to that graham in the
Kalachakra that is situated in the centre of the temple
premises. The vriksham for Sani Bhagwan is Vanni.
Special poojas will be performed to the vriksham
for those belonging to the Kadagam, Simham, Kanni, Makaram, Kumbam
and Rishaba rasi. Those who have Sani bhukthi running for them can
also participate in the poojas.
Says
Sri Muralidhara Swamigal, founder-trustee of the temple, Sani Peyarchi
poojas are performed for the idol. But in this temple, for a change,
the poojas will be performed for the vriksham.
This special worship of vrikshams one can get "aayiram
madangu palan", as it is a form of Nature worship.
The swamigal invites devotees to participate in
the homam to get the blessings of Saneeswaran as he is known to do
good and bad. They can live peaceful lives, without any sickness or
loss of lives on praying to Sani Bhagwan, he explains.
Those who wish to take part in the homam need to
send Rs 300 for the homam, and get a ratchai and a photograph of the
Swarna Akarshana Bhairavar idol installed in the temple. They will
need to send Rs 25 extra towards postal charges to the address given
at the end of the article.
Adi celebrations:
There
will be special poojas on all five Fridays of the Tamil month 'Adi'
for Goddess Mahishasuramardini. On July 22, Sunday, on account of
Adi month, there would be kalasa pooja, aishwarya pooja, pongal and
visesha abhishekam. Hundred and eight women will participate in the
'thiruvilakku pooja' and would be presented with manjal-kungumam.
Devotees are encouraged to send in Rs 300 as
donation for the celebration. They would be sent the regular
prasadam along with a picture of Mahishasuramardini.
There will be 'Eka Dina Latcharchanai' for all 30
days of the Tamil month. Those who wish to perform kunguma archanai
for Mahishasuramardini may send Rs 100 (Rs 75 for the archanai and
Rs 25 for postage for prasadam.)
Homams revived:
Homams preceded the construction of the Danvantri
Arogya Peedam temple. The main deity and the utsavar deity were
taken to several parts of India and Danvantri homams were performed
in their presence. Sri Muralidhara Swamigal is reviving the homams
now. "Since there are sick and old people who cannot come to the
temple, the God of Medicine will be paying them home visits," says
the swamigal.
The homams will be performed in houses, temples
and mandapams and prasadams distributed. Starting with
Pondicherry, October 7, the homams will be performed all over
India.
