Lord Venkateswara of the famous hill shrine at Tirumala would
soon be able to make their monetary offerings by a click of the
mouse when the shrine launches online donation facility soon.
The administration of the richest temple in the
country is all set to launch 'e-donation' facility soon to tap funds
in a big way from all over the world for the benefit of about a dozen
charitable trusts and schemes run by it, TTD Board chairman B
Karunakara Reddy has said.
The TTD Board, at its monthly meeting on August
30, would finalise the modalities of the online donation facility,
he added.
He said e-mails had been pouring in from devotees
from far away places in the country in general and NRIs in particular,
NRI Hindu forums and organisations in USA, England, Australia,
Germany, Singapore, Japan, Malaysia and Sri Lanka, seeking
introduction of the facility.
He said the TTD, through its various charitable
schemes and trusts, had been implementing several welfare measures
such as free medical and educational facilities for the poor and
physically challenged, conduct of mass marriages of thousands of poor
in Andhra Pradesh twice a year and daily free meal to thousands of
devotees visiting the hill temple. (Agencies)
