Bhaskara Kshetram - Kumbakonam

Chakrapani temple also called Bhaskara Kshetram teems with devotees who have a spiritual communion with the presiding deity Lord Chakrapani who is consecrated in a separate sanctum sanctorum. The deity poses effulgently with eight hands with a weapon each hand and three bright eyes. Sudarshana Chakra and his divine consort Sudarshanavalli are installed along with the deity. The other deities who are consecrated in the temple are- Rama, Sita, Lakshaman,Panchamukha Anjaneya , Lakshmi Narasimha and Surya.

Sthala Murthi is - Surya

Propitiating Surya will nullify the malefic effects of the Navagrahas. Chanting the Lords nama and worshipping the lord vouchsafes a peaceful, prosperous and a health life.

King Serfoji worships the Lord

King Serfoji who ruled Tanjore worshipped the lord as his daughter was indisposed. His daughter also accompanied him during his temple visits. After some time she was cured of her malady and regained her health.

Panchamukha Anjaneya

There is a holy tank called Amirthapushkarini to the western side of the temple which is supposed as holy as the Ganga and Yamuna. Pooja is performed to the deities six times a day.

                                4.30pm -9 pm
