As Good As Gold

By Ramesh N [1973-BTME]

The legend that is IIT,
Is etched in my mind;
The five-years as a boarder,
Was one of a kind.

The best path of my youth,
Was spent here;
The impressionable years,
That shaped my career.

I remember the mid-night sojourns
At Jamuna Coffee Shop;
The day prior to a periodical,
Here a must-stop.

Lab Reports and Tutorials,
Made their rounds of hostels;
Truly, the only way out,
Was through recycles.

When the load was too much
Prior to a periodical;
The Gen Sec arranged a power cut,
Bringing a welcome repeal.

IIT has all the facilities,
For shaping one's personality;
The vast games and well-stocked library ,
Dance with erudition alternatively.

Truly, those who enjoy most,
And participate in these extra-sides;
Benefit the most,
Without much academic down-slide.

Hats off to the Faculty!!!
Hats off to the Staff !!!
Who shaped our young minds,
With quite a laugh.

The role models aplenty
The sharpest brains in civilization,
Are found in IIT,
Each generation.

Today, IIT is a worldwide cash-rich brand,
Beside this Institution,
In Fortune,
None can withstand.

Today, each Reunion testifies,
To the bonding and camaraderie that exist;
And the people networking,
Beside divided borders that persist.

Gajendra Circle, is mute witness
To the IITian's life and times;
From JEE to Dream Job,
GC is the campus icon that chimes.

The place where the rivers are stationary
And mountains move;
Is well-known to you,
As the place you love.

There are many ways,
One can repay our Alma Mater;
'Give money' or 'Give time',
You can't do better.

G of GC on GJ time,
I hope you grant this, in part,
For IITians who read these lines,
Be established in heart.
