PanIIT 2008: Innovate, Inspire, Transform

By R Nagarajan [1981-BTCH]

Founded in 2002, PanIIT is the IIT Global Conference that brings together IITians spread across the world for building and strengthening IIT as a brand, networking, and ideating on and resolving social issues dealing with policy, advocacy and nation building. Being held since its inception alternatively in the U.S. and India, PanIIT 2008 will be hosted by IIT Madras during 19th-21st December 2008. The venue and timing are very appropriate, given that IIT Madras is celebrating its Golden Jubilee this year.

The event’s focus this year is to inspire IITians to innovate and transform India, hence the theme: Inspire, Innovate, Transform. In addition, each year PanIIT identifies a number of thematic tracks, carefully selected to provide the maximum impact. The six tracks this year are Research & Technology, Entrepreneurship, Rural Transformation, Infrastructure, Education and Innovation.

Expecting to host 3000 plus alumni, the IIT Global Conference has lined up a galaxy of star speakers from all walks of life. You will get to hear from leaders of the nation such as P. Chidambaram; peerless intellectuals from the academia like Prof. M.S. Ananth, Prof. Ashok Mishra, Prof. C. K. Prahalad, Prof. John Hennesey and Prof. Alison Richard; corporate honchos like Carlos Ghosn, L. N. Mittal and Bob McDonald; and pioneering thinkers such as Raghuram Rajan, Mohammed Younus and Stephen Cohen. Apart from the speeches and panel discussions on a multitude of contemporary issues, PanIIT 2008 will present a continuous offering of cultural programs by the IIT Madras campus community. Headliners will be featured at the world-class entertainment mega-events to be held at the Open Air Theatre.

Registrations for PanIIT 2008 have begun with early birds pouring in with their intent to catch up with old buddies as well as give back to India. PanIIT 2008 invites you to be a part of this thought-provoking and networking summit.
