'The Hulk', yet another superhero from the classic Marvel Comics series, is brought to cellulloid by acclaimed filmmaker Ang Lee. A little different from the other superhouses, the 'Hulk' is tinged with romance and tragedy, as its protagonist gets transformed from a normal human being to a gigantic, green-hued monster, that creates havoc and destruction on its way.
Bruce (Eric Bana) is a normal human being as long as nobody taunts him or provokes him into a rage. But when rage overtakes him, the demon within him turns him into a raging monster, that unleashes destruction in its way. And the man responsible for his fate is none other than Bruce's own father Dr. Banner (Nick Nolte), who in an attempt to create a superhuman, had carried out some dangerous experiments on Bruce when he was a little boy. And the only human who can restore a sense of sanity in the monster, is scientist Betty Rose (Jennifer Connelly of 'A Beautiful Mind'), Bruce's lady love. Watch the monster's eyes go tender and moist, and a sheer helpless look take over when it sets eyes on Betty.
Interesting to watch is the Hulk in action. As it takes giganitc leaps over hills and mountains, grabs a flying helicopter and breaks it to smithereens, tosses cars around, and flings his tormentors actross his shoulders and sends them flying to their gruesome death.
Released simultaneously in English (Paramount Pictures), and in its Tamil dubbed version (as 'Sooran' by Vijayraj Films), 'The Hulk', with its fascinating graphics and special effects, is a film that would provide entertainment to lovers of this genre.
