Just Married
Director: Shawn Levy
Cast: Ashton Kutcher, Brittany Murphy, Christian Kane, Monet Mazur, David Moscow.
'Just Married' depicts the falling-in-love of radio announcer Tom with rich girl Sarah, their courtship of nine months, looked on with mild disapproval by Sarah's snobbish family, and the hasty marriage of the duo. Trouble erupts when the newly-weds go to Venice on what they expect will be a perfect honeymoon, only to realise that matters are not going as planned, and that they still have to learn more about each other.
Bad luck trails the couple. The car Tom rents is nothing better than a buggy, they are thrown out of the five-star hotel when Tom accidentally messes up with the electrical wiring, their next stay is at a dingy run-down hotel crawling with cockroaches. And to make matters worse there's Sarah's old flame Peter showing up, apparently on a business visit, but in reality to see whether he can entice Sarah back into his arms. All these events are unlikely to contribute to a perfect honeymoon for any couple! Tom and Sarah are soon at each other's throats, conclude their honeymoon, and return home bitter, and with doubts about their decision. It's Tom's father who helps Tom put matters in their proper perspective, and the film peters to a mushy soppy ending.
With Murphy and Kutcher adequate in their roles, 'Just Married' is at times hilarious, most times mildly funny, but a decent entertainer you wouldn't mind watching.
