The Haunted Mansion
Director: Rob Minkoff
Cast: Eddie Murphy, Terence Stamp, Wallace Shawn, Jennifer Tilly, Marsha Thomson
Here's yet again a fun-filled comedy adventure from Walt Disney Pictures. 'The Haunted Mansion' keeps you engaged till the end, with its incredible special effects and its humour in the midst of its eerie thrill.
Eddie Murphy is realtor Jim Evers, his wife Sara (Marsha Thomson) his partner in business. The ever-busy Evers is coaxed by his wife and two kids to take a break and set out on a vacation. But a call one night from Edward Gracey (Nathaniel Parker), who wanted to sell his mansion, makes Evers take a detour to the place.
A thunderstorm forces the family to stay overnight at the mansion. And then the family realises that it is Sara's connection to the past that has brought them there. Trapped inside the mansion with some ghosts for company, they have to use their wits and the help of Madame Leota the clairvoyant, to get out.
Directed by Rob Minkoff, who earlier directed films like 'Stuart Little' and 'Lion King', its special effects are mind-blowing, created by six-time Academy Award-winner Rick Baker. The haunted
mansion, the cobwebbed room, the green-faced clarvoyant in a crystal ball, the four-part harmony of the singing bust all add to the ambience of an eerie film with its touch of
humour.
A wholesome family entertainer that will shock you even as it makes you laugh.
