When
you are an undercover agent in a beauty contest, assigned to catch a criminal,
you have a lot at stake. One is to nab the crook without disturbing the crowd,
the other and more difficult part, is to convince everyone that you are there to
win the 'Miss America' beauty pageant. Well, it doesn't sound too easy, does it?
That's what the film 'Miss Congeniality' is all about! Directed by Donald
Petrie, it stars Sandra Bullock, who has also produced the film. Also in the
cast are, Michael Caine, Benjamin Bratt, Candice Bergen, etc.
Grace Hart is a dedicated FBI agent who has more
masculine traits than other normal men. For the sake of nabbing the unknown
criminal who threatens to terrorize the Miss America contest, FBI sends a team
to Texas where the competition is to be held. The 
mission is to capture the criminal for which a undercover agent is sent as a
competitor to the pageant. Grace, who has the least signs of feminine
attributes, is selected to do the job. With great difficulty and a lot of
effort, Grace Hart is converted into 'Miss New Jersey'. On reaching Texas, Grace
finds that her job is more than just difficult. She is forced to do things that
she has never done before. Like using cosmetics, wearing designer gowns, moving
along with fellow competitors, laughing at their jokes, and also appealing for
world peace! For a woman who carries more guns than the cops themselves, all
these are very difficult indeed. After a series of twists and turns, laced with
sensational humour, the movie ends on a bright note.
This is one of the many films in which Sandra
Bullock has actually 'acted!' Kudos to her performance, which makes this film a
rip-roaring comedy flick. Currently 'Miss Congeniality' - a must-watch film is
running successfully at Shree (Chennai).
