Director: Aziz Mirza
Cast: Shahrukh Khan, Juhi Chawla, Paresh Rawal, Johny Lever, Dalip Tahil, Satish Shah.
It's the first production venture of 'Dreamz Unlimited', the company jointly owned by Shahrukh, Juhi and Aziz Mirza. With all the hype and publicity surrounding it, one definitely expected a better fare than the one doled out. Chirpy, cuddly, Juhi and live wire Shahrukh can entertain the audience with their 'oh-so-cute'-antics only for some time. And then one starts looking beyond them for a story that never really exists.
The film is a spoof on contemporary television journalism. Shahrukh and Juhi play two. TV reporters from rival TV stations. The first part is of their one-upmanship and the strategies each adopts to get at a scoop. All very childish and immature! And as expected the duo falls in love and joins hands. And this time they work against their bosses who have also joined hands with the powers-that-be on some unscrupulous deals. The director brings in Paresh Rawal as a terrorist. The man was only trying to take vengeance on those who had been responsible for his daughter's rape and death. This blending of the comic and the serious does not jell.
Out of Jati-Lalit's tunes, the title note seems catchy. From Aziz, the maker of such entertainers like 'Yes Boss' and 'Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman', one expected a better fare. Hope 'unlimited' has better dreams to offer in future!
