A light-hearted, romantic comedy set against the backdrop of deceit and mistaken identity,
'Hadh Kardi Aapne' just about succeeds in what it set out to achieve - entertain. The story defies logic, but has one ever expected profundity in a Govinda
starrer?
The story flits between two couples, one, Raj and Anjali, played by Nirmal Pandey and Ritu Shivpuri, the other also Raj and Anjali, played by Govinda and Rani Mukherjee. The former couple, with their marriage on the rocks, file for divorce. The judge doles out a month's time to each to produce proof of misconduct against the other. Ritu Shivpuri plans a trip to Europe but sends her namesake Rani instead so she can keep an eye on her unwary husband. Nirmal, sends his namesake Govinda, a sleuth, to keep a tab on his wife in Europe.
The two tourists fall in love, then fall out, and are reunited when the misconceptions are cleared. Rani sleep-walks through a role tailor-made for her. She has nothing much to do except say the occasional few lines, sing a few songs and flash her charming smile. But she does have this amazing ability to win over her audience, something she does with very little effort here.
Govinda, on the other hand, has used the movie to showcase his talent. His donning the multiple roles of his grandfather, grandmother, father, mother and sister fails to impress, but with Govinda in the movie, one somehow seems to enjoy his quirks in spite of
oneself.
Director Manoj Agarwal could have shaped the film better. Music by Anand Raj Anand is pleasing and Anwar's dialogues are enjoyable in some scenes. A 'must see' for all those die-hard Govinda fans.
