Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment's 'Har Dil Jo Pyar Karega' makes for a colourful collage, but the hues just don't blend. The movie is a rehashed version of the Sandra Bullock starrer 'While You were Sleeping' brought to the Indian audiences with typical Bollywood twists and turns.
Raju (Salman Khan) is an aspiring singer from Goa who comes to Mumbai to make a name for himself. He tries every trick in the book, but things just don't work out. However Lady Luck smiles at him when he saves Pooja's (Rani Mukherjee) life in an accident. The girl, dressed in bridal clothes, falls into a coma and our poor hero gets mistaken for her hubby. Now the coma she is in is a strange one, where she can understand everything happening around her but can't speak or move her body (that's Hindi films for you). Seeing an opportunity to get recognised as a singer on account of a rich and influential father-in-law, our hero happily plays on, that is until Jhanvi (Preity Zinta), Pooja's best friend, comes along. On seeing her, Raju's heart starts to throb, but he has to keep his feelings under wraps.
Jhanvi learns of his real identity and they run around trees and pray to God for Pooja's speedy recovery. Surprise, surprise! Pooja recovers and guess what? She eyes Raju. This is where we go back to our geometry classes in school where we learnt about the perfect triangle. Finally, Pooja learns about Jhanvi's feelings and alls well that ends well. Shah Rukh Khan does a cameo in the end, just so Rani doesn't feel lonely. The trio of Salman, Rani and Preity is very fresh. Acting for the most part is acceptable, but Salman is insufferable at times. Anu Malik's music is lively, especially 'Piya Piya'. Director Raj Kanwar's efforts didn't show much.
No efforts seem to have been made to make the story line effective. Our advice: watch the promos at home, they make better viewing.
