Remember Sanjay Chhel who wrote all those witty touchy dialogues for
Rangeela? He is back as a director in Khoobsurat, a Sanjay Dutt, Urmila starrer. Sanjay
Dutt plays an NRI - Non reliable Indian, a small time conman who comes into Urmila's
family to steal some dough. But being the softy heart that all our Hindi film heroes are,
he starts solving the problems in the family. Urmila plays an introvert who has absolutely
no confidence and as a result of these faults, has been rejected by manly suitors.
So she becomes Sanju baba's pet project and yes the predictable happens, she
falls in love with him. In this manner he starts solving the multitude of difficulties
that plague the family, a kind of one cure for all familial ailments. All the characters
in the story are fragmented and even when put together fail to align to make up the plot.
The movie is loaded with one-liners and smart
comebacks but the script is too flawed to survive. The music by Jatin-Lalit has a few good
songs and even Sanjay croons one number, 'Aeh! Shivani.
