After the success of 'Ghulam' and working with Aamir Khan, Vikram Bhatt began his next project 'Kasoor' by signing Aftab Shivdasani and Lisa Ray. The movie wasn't advertised on a large scale but still won the hearts of the people because of the performance of the lead stars. Although newcomer Aftab Shivdasani did not manage to obtain box office success with his debut movie 'Mast', the youngster certainly caught the eye of several top-notch producers and directors! One of them was Vikram Bhatt, who instantly signed him for the thriller 'Kasoor' opposite hot model Lisa Ray, who makes her Bollywood debut in this movie. Will Aftab get the hit he desperately needs with 'Kasoor'?
Aftab plays a rich guy who is accused of ruthlessly murdering his wife and maid. His only hope of freedom now is Lisa Ray, a talented young attorney who decides to represent Aftab in court. Austosh Rana, the police inspector, who accused Aftab, plays his role to the hilt. The movie has wonderful music by Nadeem - Sharavan, who have returned with a bang. It has melodious numbers at the top of the list for many weeks. The songs have been picturised in a very attractive manner.
Whether Aftab is guilty or innocent is something that plays on
Lisa's mind from the moment she hears about the case. However, she takes up the case and does a sterling job - Aftab is declared innocent and set free. Not only does Aftab win the case but he also manages to win Lisa's heart in the process. After the case, Lisa spends a night at Aftab's house - where she makes an interesting discovery that shows that Aftab may not be innocent after all! Will she manage to leave his house intact or will she become the next victim?
The movie's climax has really been shot perfectly; a full dark sequence and well played by both Aftab and Lisa. When Lisa finds out that Aftab was the real killer and runs away from the place, Aftab plays a brilliant role of a mad killer who chases her. In the end Lisa gets rid of him by killing him. With a great storyline and melodious music the film has had a tremendous response from the public.
