Amitabh Bachchan after the super hit 'Mohabbatein' comes back in Sunil Darshan's new venture called 'Ek Rishta'. This time it is Akshay Kumar's turn to team up with the big man. Amitabh plays a role of a rich industrialist, Vijay Kapoor, and Akshay Kumar, his son, is Ajay Kapoor. The story is based on the concept of generation gap that results in a conflict between father and son.
Rajesh, played by Monish Behl, wins the confidence of Vijay Kapoor and his daughter Juhi Chawla who falls in love with him. They get married and Rajesh starts living in Vijay Kapoor's house. Akshay Kumar's fight with Hari Singh, Union Leader in the factory, starts the conflict between father and son. This results in a big fight and Vijay Kapoor asks his son to leave the house. Akshay Kumar marries Nisha, played by Karishma Kapoor, who also leaves her father for her love. While back home, Rajesh, indulging in fraudulent practices, puts Vijay Kapoor in huge debts and his house is to be auctioned. Then comes Akshay Kumar to see his father who is ill and in heavy financial trouble.
Will the father and son meet? Can Akshay Kumar save his house from being auctioned and clear the huge debts? This family drama cannot be missed for its emotional moments.
The music is melodious, but more was expected of Nadeem-Shravan. The stars are wasted, especially Rakhee in her come back film. The one man who saves the movie is Amitabh. Akshay Kumar is good and has not been overshadowed by the Big B's presence. Juhi Chawla is her usual self. 'Heena', Simone Singh, has given a good performance in her first movie. Monish Behl looks suitable for the negative role that he has played.
