Cast: Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Rani Mukherjee, Hrithik Roshan, Kareena Kapoor, Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya
Bachchan.
The movie is all about family relationships. We have the grandmother, Asha Sachdev, her son and daughter-in-law, Amitabh and Jaya and their adopted son, Shahrukh Khan and a biological son, Hrithik Roshan. As soon as Shahrukh finds out that he has been adopted, he chooses to leave the family ignoring their love, especially that of his younger brother Hrithik, who absolutely worships him. Now enter Kajol and Kareena straight into the hearts of the two brothers. A flashback recount of the story which leads to the current circumstances and
etches out clearly each character and their relation to one other, defines the roles within the family and expectations that arise from them.
From the first to the last frame 'Kabhi Khushi Kabhie
Gham' is a masterpiece. Each artiste has managed to master his role to such an extent that you have to remind yourself that this is
a film and not a real family drama that you are watching. Shah Rukh excels in what is possibly the most difficult role to assay in the film. Amitabh Bachchan gives his finest performance in recent times. Kajol lights up the hearts and screen
with her laughter and tears. Kareena Kapoor will have you in stitches in a British-raised character, proving her comic brilliance. Hrithik Roshan sizzles in an all-round performance that gives him scope to stir emotions, and play a doting brother and son like never before. Jaya Bachchan lives her role as usual.
Director Karan Johar and Associate Director Nikhil Advani have woven together a journey of emotions, technical brilliance and mesmerizing screen moments. The location, background, songs, character definition - speak of attention to the minutest detail. This film can be called as one of the biggest blockbusters of the millennium.
