Koi Mere Dil Se Poochhe

Producer: Boney Kapoor
Director: Vinay Shukla
Starring: Esha Deol, Sanjay Kapoor, Aftab, Jaya Bachchan, Anupam Kher.
Music: Rajesh Roshan
Lyrics: Suryabhanu Gupt, Ibrahim Ashk, and Dev Kohli

Esha (Esha Deol) is married to Dushyant (Sanjay Kapoor). Dushyant is a sex pervert who likes to take nude pictures of Esha and sell them to the voyeurs. He also tries to market her for sex and shoot a soft core of her having sex with another guy. Esha runs away from Dushyant. The house burns down and everyone thinks that Dushyant is dead. Esha now lives with her ma-in-law Mansi Devi (Jaya Bachchan), with whom she feels very close.

At the beginning of the film, we see Aman (Aftab) and Esha studying in an institute. Aman is madly in love with Esha who rebuffs him at every turn because of her dark past (we are told about that later in the movie). Aman's dad, Anupam Kher tries to help him in his efforts but with no avail. Finally, with the persuasion of Mansi, Esha agrees to marry Aman. But, Sanjay Kapoor re-appears and threatens to reveal the fact that she is already married. Mansi, wanting to get rid of her son Sanjay, mixes posion in the kheer and gives it to him. So, all is well that ends well.

This is Esha Deol's debut film and it is nothing to rave about. All the lead actors are disappointing. The dialogues of the film lack any type of meaningful arguments between Aman and Aisha in their struggle to understand each other. Aftab is appreciable. The only better character definition is Dushyant, Sanjay Kapoor, who is better as a villain than as a hero.

Rajesh Roshan’s music is attractive and entertaining for those that won’t mind the obvious 'Kaho Na Pyaar Hai' hangover. The only smart move was choosing Pamela Jain’s vocals for the songs; they indeed match the tone of her voice well. The presentation on the other hand is beautiful. The title track is presented on a spring like landscape that certainly takes your mind away from mundane life. Boney Kapoor's film is very mediocre and at times disappointing.
