Kya Yehi Pyaar Hai

Director: Allu Arvind
Producer: Tips Films
Music: Sajid-Wajid
Lyrics: Jalees Rashid
Cast: Amisha Patel, Aftab Shivdasani, Jackie Shroff, Ashish Vidhyarthi, Neena Kulkarni

The story is set in a vibrant college campus where almost everyone is in search of love. Rahul (Aftab) begins his own personal journey to find that someone special, and he finds Sandhya (Amisha Patel). While Sandhya focuses on her studies, all Rahul can do is concentrate on Sandhya. Rahul's brother Dr. Tiwari (Jackie Shroff) tries to convince him that love can only be part of life, not the entirety of it. Sandhya is the only child of Rachna (Neena Kulkarni) and an alcoholic police inspector Raj Patil (Ashish Vidhyarthi). Patil is a crazy father who does not care a bit about the feelings of his wife and daughter. Rahul tries to convince Sandhya, but she is just not ready for his love. His brother and friends ask for Sandhya’s hand, but Patil insults them in a very rude manner. One day Dr.Tiwari dies in an accident while he is driving - thinking about his brother’s problems. This makes things worse for Aftab; he realizes that he has lost his only brother for the sake of love. Sandhya finally realises the situation and decides to accept Rahul, but then he turns down her offer. Rahul feels what his brother said was true, and it is too late for him to find happiness.

While the first half of the film is repetitive and very slow because not much happens, the post-interval portion moves faster. The dialogues are not convincing; choreography is good The music videos are doing the rounds in all the television channels and feature tracks for the foot-tapping numbers by Sajid-Wajid with lyrics by Jalees Rashid & Ajay Jhingran.

Aftab is brilliant in this film; showing improvement in every film of his. Amisha fails in her dialogue delivery – she is too artificial at times. Ashish Vidhyarthi is absolutely fabulous, though you feel that he overacts now and then. Jackie Shroff does justice to his role and looks great as the big brother.
