Directed: David Dhawan
Cast: Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar, Priyanka Chopra, Amrish Puri, Rajpal
Yadav.
It's David Dhawan's latest romantic caper, this time the eternal love-triangle with a lot of humour woven in. The story is set in Goa with a Baywatch-style ambience. In fact, some of the scenes give a sense of deja vu, when you remember similar scenes from films like
'Meet the Parents' and 'Never Been Kissed'. A Tamil film too had come much earlier, with the same story line, characters and incidents. Only, here it is a more glamorous scenario!
Salman is Samir, a lifeguard in
Goa, with enough scenes to show off his muscled torso. He falls for Priyanka, who plays Rani, a fashion designer. But all Samir's attempts to woo Rani backfires, with him landing in the bad books of her father, the stern colonel Dugraj Singh, played with elan by Amrish Puri. It becomes worse for Samir with the arrival of his new flat-mate, the rakish, wicked Sunny.
Sunny has his eye on Rani too, is willing to go to any length to sabotage Samir's love, and get into the good books of the colonel.
Akshay Kumar as the Sunny with the mischievous glint in his eye makes the most of his character, and easily is the best part of the film. 'Wicked Sunny, he'll kill for money', goes the background score, each time he appears.
And, of course, there's Priyanka Chopra in her itsy-bitsies, revealing in her role of the woman wooed by two men. Towards the end, you can also get glimpses of popular cricketers, as the final part of the story takes place in a crowded stadium where a cricket match is on, where Samir makes a desperate final plea to Rani, and Rani has to make her choice between the two men.
It's a fairly engaging entertainer with no
boring moments.
