A R Rahman's new version of 'Jana Gana Mana', the national
anthem, is out. Released by Bharatbala Productuions, the Rahman
anthem has many versions rendered soufuilly by many leading
classical and ghazal singers.
The list includes such eminent musicians as Bhimsen Joshi,
Bhuper Hazarika, D K Pattammal, Hariprasad Chaurasia, Ustad
Amjad Ali Khan, Pt Jasraj, Pt Viswa Mohan Bhat with Vikku
Vinayakaram, Sudha Ragunathan and P Unnikrishnan, Hariharan,
Parween Sultana, Pt Shiv Kumar Sharma, Ustad Ghulam Mustafa
Khan, Balamuralikrishna, Lata Manageshkar, Asha Bhosle and
Hariharan.
Conceived and directed by Kanika Myer and Bharatbala, the CD
is released by Timesmusic.
The CD was launched at Music World by Rahman and Bharatbala's
team and later in a surprise packet, the video of the album was
screened at Satyam theatre just before the commencement of 'Sivaji
- The Boss'. And the audience had another surprise in store when
Rahman appeared before the gathering and spoke to them for a
couple of minutes.
