Hailing from Madurai which houses the famous Meenakshi Amman temple, Kandaswamy, a pharmacologist, drifted towards Ramana Maharishi by a strange event.
Continuing his family business, he shifted his domestic set-up to another temple town,
Tiruchi.
Ramanashram, nestled in the mountains of Tiruvannamalai, is situated in an idyllic surroundings in the embrace of green foliage. Kandaswamy, on a visit to the ashram was once was denied food on flippant grounds. He was on the verge of crying but he hid his emotions and proceeded to the shrine of Ramana’s mother and stood there speechless. Suddenly, an unknown person gave him curd rice and requested him to eat it. It was like Manna from Heavens. He is not able to identify till date the person who gave him food.
He attributes this to the grace of the saint of Arunachala – Ramana
Maharishi.
He then became a regular visitor to
Tiruvannamalai.
A novice in the field of music, his involvement in hosting music festival during Navarathri for the past five years is amazing. The ashram is flooded with foreign devotees who have no inkling about our cultural life. Since music is integral part of our cultural set-up, and to educate the foreigners on classical music, he started arranging concerts with the help of Kalaimamani Trichy
R Thayumanavan
Many luminaries of the music world have performed here.
The hills of Arunachala ring with the melodious music of the performers which mingles well with the chanting of verses from the holy scriptures.
