Brahma Gana Sabha fest
Veteran Carnatic vidwan Balamuralikrishna and Tamil playwright Raadhu were honoured with the titles of Gaana Padmam and Naataka Padmam recently by the Brahma Gana Sabha.
The sabha launched its annual December festival at the Sivagami Pethachi auditorium on Luz Church Road, Mylapore. The Chief Justice of the Madras High Court Justice Ajit Prakash Shah inaugurated the festival on December 3.
The Chief Justice appreciated the efforts of the two artistes, who were honoured by the sabha, for their contribution to the field of music and drama. He pointed out that Balamuralikrishna had a reach across the country, overcoming any divide between Carnatic and Hindustani music and he had followers all over the country.
Industrialist Nalli Kuppusami Chetti, president of the sabha, said Bharatanatyam danseuse Kalanidhi Narayanan would be conferred the title of Naatya Padmam at the commencement of the dance festival which would follow the music
programmes.
