Ganesh, Kumaresh in concert
A concert or a raga can be presented in a traditional way or a modern way or a combination of both. One way of presenting a concert/raga is playing and singing in traditional settings that one usually associates with a Carnatic music concert. Another way is to present it as a sound and light show, with modern settings taking the aid of electronics and modern technology.
Welcome to 'E-Carnatic Music' - music that is contemporary, modern and happening, presented by Ganesh and Kumaresh, titled 'Xpressions'. The concert will be held on May 27, 2006, at 6.30 p.m. at Narada Gana Sabha Hall.
The special composition for the event is the presentation of the raga Dhanyasi in traditional splendour with all the modern trappings. Dhanyasi raga expresses emotion through its very subtle and exaggerated gamakas (ornamentation).
The brothers will be presenting a song specially written by Gangai Amaran for this event. The piece will electrify and rock you with its music giving a different dimension to Carnatic Music, say the organisers. This is E-Kriti, the name summing up the concept behind the composition.
Ganesh and Kumaresh will be accompanied by Keith Peters on bass guitar, Shyam on the keyboard, Satish Kumar on the mridangam, Ravichandra on the flute and Arun Kumar on drums and percussions.
