 Kalki awards for Savitha, Vaidyanathan
 The Kalki Krishnamurthy Memorial Awards would be presented to vocalist Savitha Narasimhan and mridangist J Vaidyanathan at a function in Chennai on September 9, 2006.
The awards are given away on behalf of the Kalki Krishnamurthy Memorial Trust every year. This year, the recipients are two young performers in Carnatic music.
The trust disbursed Rs 2.75 lakh towards educational scholarships to economically weaker sections in the previous academic year.
The president of the Music Academy, N Murali, will give away the awards.
The evening's programme will conclude with a vocal performance by Savitha Narasimhan, accomapnied by Usha Rajagopalan (violin), J Vaidyanathan (mridangam) and Guruprasad (ghatam).
