Nirmala
Rajasekar, a renowned veena player, has created ripples in the
musical world with her erudition and exemplary style.
A
Bush Foundation scholar from USA, she has made India proud
by being the first Indian classical musician to be awarded this
scholarship.
Her 'Songs of the Veena' is going to go global as Innova Records
(a national US label) is set to release her CD on July 21 at
Minneapolis..
'Songs of the Veena' showcases the varied
forms of music which blends harmoniously with Carnatic music.
A composer herself, she will be accompanied
by Vijaya Desikan on the violin, Srinivasan on the mridangam,
Marcus Wise on the tabla and Balaji Chandran on the ghatam.
The venue is Minneapolis Central Library,
Pohlad Hall.
Time 2.30 p.m. - 4.30 p.m.
Entry will be free and there will be a concert following the CD
release.
