Santhalaya Arts Foundation, a music organisation based in the
United Kingdom recently honoured renowned vocalist, violinist
and teacher, Subbulakshmi Muthuswamy, with the title of 'Sangeetha
Kala Saraswathi' for her contribution to the field of music.
Subbulakshmi Muthuswamy learnt music from her father V
Lakshminarayana Iyer from a very early age and also from many
doyens like Semmangudi Srinivasaiyer, Ramnad Krishnan,
Tiruparkadal Srinivasa Iyengar and Jayamma (daughter of Dhanamma).
She has performed innumerable concerts. She is a dedicated
teacher and is the director of the Lakshminarayana School of
Music in Chennai.
Many of her students have made a mark in the
field of music.
Santhalaya Arts Foundation, which presented
the award, besides teaching music to many aspiring students,
organises events and arranges concerts for artistes from abroad.
Recently, the students of Santhalaya Arts
Foundation gave a scintillating performance in Tooting, UK.
