Now you can resonate with some music while you are at your Yoga. A new music album to accompany Yoga and Meditation practice has been released. 'Veena Vibrations' from Ragachitra Records plays instrumental music on the Veena.
"The music has been specially-composed to accompany the transcendental state of mind while practicing yoga or meditation. The album is a great way to relax and traverse across the inner self," says Nivedita ShivRaj who created and rendered the music on the Veena for the album.
The album presents music tracks of the Veena named the Introspection, the Inner Faith and the Illumination with occasional accompaniment of resounding Mridangam (a percussion instrument) for special musical effects and the mild reverberations of the vibraphone to add on to the mood of the music. Nivedita ShivRaj has chosen the carnatic raga Bowli for the theme "The Introspection" and the raga Revathy for the theme "The Inner Faith". The third theme "The Illumination" is based on the raga "Hamsanadham".
"The ancient multi-string instrument veena produces melodic curves, just like a gifted human voice," Nivedita adds. "It is therefore a suitable instrument to play enchanting and elaborate gamakams (musical curves). This makes the music of veena a perfect accompaniment for yoga and meditation."
Veena Vibrations is the first album in the Transcendental Music Series of RagaChitra Records. The music publisher will be adding more albums in the series for Yoga and meditation practitioners.
Nivedita ShivRaj, an accomplished Carnatic music professional and a talented veena artiste, presents Veena and vocal concerts and workshops in the USA. She actively participates in cross-genre music productions. As a music teacher, she offers music lessons to her disciples in the USA, Europe, Australia, India and other countries.
