'Thiruvasagam' contest for students

'Ilayaraja's Thiruvasagam--
Classical Crossover' of Tamil Maiyam, is organising a series of contests for students of schools and colleges in various parts of Tamil Nadu as part of the efforts to promote awareness of Tamil treasures like Manickavasagar's epic contribution,
Thiruvasagam.
Separate contests will be held for students of schools and colleges. The contest for school students will be in two categories - students up to class-8, and those from class 9-12.

four winners from schools and three from colleges each would be awarded prizes by none other than maestro Ilayaraja himself in Chennai on June 30, 2005, at the function to release the audio CD and cassette of his
'Thiruvasagam'.
Schools, colleges or Tamil associations or any other institution or firm interested in holding the contest in their area in Tamil Nadu can contact Chennaionline regarding hosting/organising a similar contest on their premises.

Students can recite or sing portions from a verse of Thiruvasagam each for not more than
2 minutes each. Institutions can obtain copies of letters to schools/colleges from Chennaonline seeking entries for the contests. These can be displayed on the notice boards of educational institutions. A local coordinator may be appointed at each centre to look after the arrangements with schools/colleges regarding entries, identifying the judges and preparing the venue for the contests.
A representative from Chennaionline will try to be there on the day of the contest to oversee the arrangements and the contest.
