There were some notable points at the
Chennaoline Thiruvasagam contest in Kancheepuram, organised in association with Ilayaraja’s Tiruvasagam, Tamil Maiyam and
Soranmmal Educational Trust, on June 18: There was a tie for the first place in the junior category, a brother and sister team won the contest in different categories, there was a class-3 girl student who braved the audience, Sankara Arts College swept the prizes for the senior cateogry and there was also a Muslim boy who recited the
Thiruvasagam!
In all 74 students, belonging to the sub-junior (class 3-8), junior (class-8-12) and senior level (college students), participated in the contest that was judged by Tamil teachers S Sadasivam (Pachaiyappa’s School) and Rukmini (Mamallan Matriculation School).
