 Thiruvasagam Contest in Nellai
 Chennaionline.com, in association with Ilayaraja's Thiruvasagam - Tamil Maiyam, has organised a Thiruvasagam Contest for school students in Tirunelveli on July 24, 2005, (Sunday). The Contest is being held at the Maharajnagar Sri Jayendra Swamigal Silver Jubilee Matriculation School from 9.30 a.m. to 1 p.m., with T R Somasundaram (ph 98942-31536), of Arasu Paper Mart, Nagercoil as the
co-ordinator.
Swami Sankaranandji, Trustee, Saradha College, Ariyakulam, and and chairman, Board of Trustees, Swami Nellaiappar Temple, will preside over the programme, in the presence of Jayendran V Mani, Director of the School.
Thirumurai teacher of Tirunelveli town, Vallinayagam, Prof P Muthuswami of Saiva Siddhanta Teaching Centre, Nagercoil, Prof S Radhakrishnan, Thiruvasaga Sabhai, Kanyakumari district, and S Kadarvalli, Tamil teacher, Government High School, Vallanadu, will be the judges of the Contest.
The contest is open for students from standards 6 to 8 (one batch), and standards 9 to 12 (second batch). Students can either sing or recite from verses of Manickavasagar's Thiruvasagam. Cash and other prizes will be awarded to the winners in these categories, said Somasundaram, the
co-ordinator.
Each participant will be given a maximum time of three minutes.
