Maestro Ilayaraja |
Film music director
Maestro Ilayaraja said to have Chaurasia play for a film song, though he had taken a policy decision not to perform for films, was wonderful.
This happened in Mumbai when he was recording a song, and Chaurasia who came there to greet him asked him how he could do a recording without him.
Ilayaraja hoped that efforts would be made to bring out an album of special kirtanais prepared by
Balamuralikrishna.
He said every effort should be made by music lovers to produce this album.
M
Murali, managing director of Sri Krishna Sweets, and ghatam vidwan Vinayakaram presented mementoes to the artistes.
He said a musician from south India and another Hindustani musician would be honoured every month as part of the Chennai 365
programmes.
Balamuralikrishna said only Bala Krishna remained as part of his name as 'Murali' had been taken over by
Hariprasad Chaurasia.
