The Center for Ethnomusicology will conduct a seminar and workshop on Fusion Music - Methodology and Performance on May 23, 2007, at Hotel Savera, Chennai - 600004.
The programme, which begins at 10 a.m., is designed to improve the understanding of the fusion music genre among musicians and music lovers and offer practical lessons in composing and performing fusion music.
It will include a seminar session in the forenoon addressed by Dr Akin Euba, Professor, Department of Music, University of Pittsburg, USA, well-known Ethnomusicologist and performer, producer, composer of Avant-garde music. Other speakers are:

Niko Higgins, Fulbright Fellow from Columbia University
Dr M Lalitha, Fulbright Fellow from India
In the lecture session, the methods to synthesise different music cultures will be addressed, followed by discussion.
Following lunch, the afternoon session will be a workshop (2 p.m. to 4 p.m.) where the participants will be encouraged to compose and perform fusion music under the guidance of the expert faculty. The participants are requested to bring their musical instruments for the workshop.
