Suryan
FM and S FM, part of the Sun network, have bagged three awards
in the recently concluded India Radio Forum Awards held in
Mumbai.
Suryan FM, which forms a part of Sun network,
has been holding on to its No. 1 position in Chennai and various
other cities in Tamil Nadu, "being a popular mass entertainer,
while NRS Reports have always shown us as the No.1 FM station in
Chennai", said V Sridhar, manager, South Asia FM Ltd.
Out of the 26 categories announced during
these awards, Suryan FM has bagged the award for Best Radio
Programme in Tamil which went to 'Blade No. 1' currently hosted
by Shankar. This show has three segments - 'Aruva Singam', 'Live
Interaction with Listeners' and 'Kundakka Mandakka'.
'Aruva Singam' is a programme where Shankar
mimics voices for Singam, a self-proclaimed philosopher - a
character created by the programming team. This character cracks
'kadidhai' (derived from Tamil kavidhai (meaning poem) + kadi
(meaning a poor joke).
The second segment comprises live interaction
where listeners call up and share their PJs, while the last
segment is called 'Kundakka Mandakka' where a listener gets 30
seconds of non-stop interaction with Shankar. The listener has
to answer questions without repeating any word and without
giving a direct reply to questions asked by the RJ.
93.5
S FM Hyderabad, which also forms part of this group and is
completely a new radio station, has bagged two awards - one for
the Best Radio Programme in Telugu which is 'Guru Ho Ja Shuru'
and also the award for Best In-House Promo 'Thellarindoi Mama'
in Telugu.
All these awards have been possible due to
the tremendous efforts put in by the programming team headed by
Satya in Chennai and Muthu Saravanan in Hyderabad, Sridhar said.
Recently launched 93.5 S FM is currently
being positioned as a youthful FM station catering to Section A,
B, C across Bangalore, Hyderabad, Jaipur. With close to 41 more
stations to be launched, this network will cover most parts of
the country and would be one of the largest FM networks in
India, he added.
